Bond set for man accused of trying to strike officers in chase

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

Bond has been set at $495,000 for a man police say attempted to strike four officers during a chase that started in North Charleston and ended in West Ashley Wednesday afternoon.

The North Charleston Police Department charged Richard Droze with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of meth, failure to stop for blue lights and four counts of attempted murder. 

According to police, shortly before 2 p.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on the driver of a vehicle at Deerwood Drive and Fernwood Drive. Police say the driver failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit that ended on Highway 61 near Middleton Inn. 

Officers with North Charleston and deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office were involved in the pursuit.

No injuries were reported.  

Authorities also released dash camera video footage of the chase which ended with officers arresting Droze.
