Suspect charged with grand larceny after high speed chase

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities with the Walterboro Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a high speed chase that took place earlier this week. 

On May 16 around 10 a.m. officers from the Walterboro Police Department and deputies from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to NAPA Auto

Parts on Robertson Blvd. in reference to a white Ford F-250 that was just taken from the parking lot.

Authorities were led on a high speed pursuit throughout Colleton County that ended when the suspect wrecked the vehicle in the river and fled the area. 

Through further investigation, Detectives from the Walterboro Police Department were able to identify the suspect as 26-year-old David Mays.

Mays was charged with grand larceny and transported to the Colleton County Detention Center.
