JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The five-race sprint triathlon series kicked-off Saturday morning, as hundreds of racers went for a 600-yard freshwater swim, 12-mile bike ride and 5k run.
The annual races are held at James Island County Park, put on by Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission.
The other races will be held June 19, July10, July 31 and August 14.
This year is the 26th year for the premier swim, bike and run competition.
Athletes from all over the Southeast were there, but those from Charleston got a special discount since they pay taxes to help our county parks.
