SULLIVAN'S ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Fort Moultrie is saluting the first servicewomen of the Women Army Corps in a special program this Memorial Day.

On May 30 Fort Moultrie Park Staff invite the public to join them for two 45-minute programs highlighting the role of the women who enlisted and served at Fort Moultrie and throughout the global theater during World War II.

The showings are scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m.

“We are honored to share the stories of these women. Their courage and sacrifice to preserve our Nation must not be forgotten. Memorial Day is an appropriate time to reflect on how they worked alongside the soldiers to protect the freedom we enjoy today” said Chief of Visitor Services, Tony Paladino.

Fort Moultrie is open daily from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. and located at 1214 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.
