Police: 1 wounded in Rivers Ave. shooting

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston Police are investigating a Rivers Avenue shooting Saturday afternoon that left one man wounded.

Police responded to a reported shooting in the parking lot of Chuck E. Cheese on Rivers Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. where officers found a gunshot victim, North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

The man had been wounded in the thigh and told police he did not know the gunman. He told police his assailant pulled up in a gray Charger, shot him and drove off, Pryor said.

Charleston County Consolidated Dispatchers said the initial call about a shooting came in at 4:40 p.m. 

Witnesses reported several police cars on the scene and crime scene tape up around several cars in the parking lot.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening wound, Pryor said.
