CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A prayer gathering will be held Wednesday to support the City of Charleston's Illumination Project.
According to a news release, the event will be held at "Mother" Emanuel AME Church from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Dr. Betty Deas Clark.
Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Charleston NAACP President Dot Scott, St. Andrews Presbyterian's Rev. Spike Coleman, Jessica Watkins with the Charleston Police Department, Samantha Sammis of Loving America Street and Illumination Project Facilitator Anne Sbrocchi will speak at the service.
Officials want to make it possible for people of various races, cultures and faith traditions to regularly pray together for the success of the Illumination Project and deepen their own understanding across groups so they are more able to collaborate in community-wide good works, the news release states.
The next prayer gathering will be held Tuesday, July 19 at 9 a.m.
