NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston Police have made an arrest in a 2014 murder.

Desmond Miller was arrested Thursday in the November, 2014 shooting death of Jamal Gathers. According to court affidavits, Miller was in a car on Gaynor Avenue near East Montague Avenue when he fired multiple shots at another car.

Police say Gathers, who was a passenger in the other vehicle was struck in the head by a bullet, and died.

Court papers state Miller confessed to a witness and a co-defendant that he shot Gathers. Several of the victim's family members were in bond court Friday for Miller's hearing.

The family's pastor spoke directly to the suspect.

"The mother would like you to know that you thought you were getting away, but the Bible tells me that you show your sin, we'll find you out," Pastor Vanderbilt Evans Sr. said.

Evans told Miller to "man up to it", and tell investigators who else was involved in Gathers' murder.

"My prayer for you son is that you would say who else is involved in this with you, that you will not have to deal with this by yourself because you didn't do this on your own," Evans said.

Miller is charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

A judge denied bond for Miller on the murder and attempted murder charges.
