The Charleston Police Department says a number of streets in downtown were shut down due to flooding caused by high tide.
Police say Morrison Drive from Harris to Cooper & South Market from Church to State are closed to traffic because of flooding due to high tide.
NWS officials say isolated severe thunderstorms are also possible during the afternoon and evening hours through Sunday.
According to forecasters, it is likely that the best chance for severe weather will be on Sunday, and the main threat will be damaging winds.
Minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected to occur during the evening high tides through the weekend.
"There is a chance that major flooding could occur as king tides peak," NWS officials said.
