NCPD looking for McMillan Avenue shooting suspect

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department is looking for a man they believe fatally shot someone in front of a store at 2000 McMillan Avenue on Friday, June 3.

Shatario Copeland, considered armed and dangerous, was last seen running through the Horizon Village community on Spruill Avenue.

A tattoo on his neck reads "Santario," investigators say. His last known address is on Verde Street.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. North Charleston police officers responded to the Max Quick Stop at 2000 McMillian Avenue in reference to a male victim outside of the store suffering from a gunshot wound.

"The victim was transported by EMS to the hospital where he died," NCPD officials said.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 32-year-old Karriem Imran Mitchell of North Charleston. He was pronounced dead at 10:32 a.m. that day at MUSC.

Anyone with information on Copeland's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Sgt. Al Kuechler at 843-740-2858.
