CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Prosecutors have withdrawn a motion to reschedule the case of a former North Charleston police officer charged with the shooting death of Walter Scott.

In the motion filed on Wednesday, Solicitor Scarlett Wilson says the State will be prepared for Michael Slager's Oct. 31, 2016 trial.

Slager shot and killed Scott during a traffic stop in April 2015.

Prosecutors cite developments in the Dylann Roof federal trial, now set for November, which impacted their decision.

"In light of recent developments in the Roof matter, Solicitor Wilson and Chief Deputy DuRant intend to waive their protection for the limited purposes of handling matters pertaining to the case at bar, State v. Slager," the motion stated.

On Tuesday, a federal judge announced that Roof's trial would be on Nov. 7. Roof numerous counts in the June 17 shootings at Emanuel AME Church.
