COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - President Donald Trump is returning to South Carolina for an eleventh-hour rally in support of Gov. Henry McMaster's bid for a first full term. The McMaster campaign has announced in an emailed statement that Trump will join McMaster on Monday, one day ahead of the primary.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina lawmaker who chose not to mount a gubernatorial bid of his own says he's backing a Republican challenger to Gov. Henry McMaster. State Sen. Tom Davis told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he's endorsing Greenville businessman John Warren for the June 26 runoff.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A new South Carolina law will allow children adopted in the state to see their sealed birth certificates after they turn 18 with written consent from their birth parents. The law passed last month will go into effect in July 2019. Along with birth certificates, the law would let adopted children to see the medical history and contact information for the people who put them up for adoption if they allow it.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Sixteen protesters have been arrested near the Governor's Mansion in the final week of the South Carolina Poor People's Campaign. Organizers say 82 people have been arrested during nonviolent protests in Columbia over the past six weeks. South Carolina is one of 35 state capitals and Washington D.C. where there have been protests over conditions facing the poor.
