GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a sheriff's deputy has fatally shot a man in South Carolina. Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis tells news outlets a man wielding a knife was killed after charging at deputies Monday evening. He says deputies had been called out for a disturbance and found at least five people in a home who were "potential hostage victims."

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Candidate filing is now open for this year's elections in South Carolina. Filing opened at noon on Friday. Candidates have until noon on March 30 to file their paperwork and pay required fees.

NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP) - An appliance manufacturer is expanding its production footprint in South Carolina. Samsung on Monday is launching a new line of top-loading washing machines at its 450,000-square foot facility in Newberry.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has been arrested in a weekend hit-and-run wreck that killed a woman. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Andrew Grant Whetstone II of Greer has been charged with leaving the scene of a wreck involving death, crossing the center line and possession of a stolen vehicle. Thirty-two-year-old Dianna Lisett Deleon of Greenville died in the wreck Saturday morning.
