CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has narrowed down a list of names for the newest addition to their canine unit.
Officials say their six-month-old bloodhound will be trained as the agency's new search and rescue K9.
The list of names include: Smoak, in memory of retired CCSO Lt. Larry Smoak who ran the K9 unit for many years, Manny, in memory of the Emmanuel 9, Justice, and Beau.
As soon as he's trained, the bloodhound's job will include assisting in searches for missing people and serving as an ambassador at community events and schools.
