CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County has released a report on a study regarding a permanent bike and pedestrian path across the Ashley River Bridge.

Government officials say the study found that blocking off the far right lane from West Ashley into downtown did not impact traffic to an extreme.

You can find the full report on the study here.

This past April, county officials tested the impact of closing a northbound lane of the Ashley River Bridge for a dedicated bike lane.

During the test of the bike lane, Charleston County staff, City of Charleston staff and a county consultant monitored the daily traffic counts and travel times on all the approaching routes, including the James Island Connector, according to officials.
