CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Department of Justice wants to "listen" to North Charleston.
This is all part of a federal review of the police department after last year's shooting death of Walter Scott.
Only a small crowd showed up to the listening session, and that can be blamed on Tropical Storm Colin. The DOJ should come back to North Charleston when the weather is good and give more residents an opportunity to voice their concerns.
The goal is to rebuild trust and confidence between the community and the police department.
Trust is a two-way street.
It can only be accomplished with ample opportunity to voice opinions and offer feedback.
