SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Four Summerville families are being assisted by the Red Cross after a fire broke out at their apartment complex.

Emergency crews responded to the Nautical Isle at the Hidden Palms apartment complex off of Bacons Bridge Road Wednesday night.

Pictures and videos from the scene showed crews working on a two-story building. Firefighters were seen fighting flames on the roof.

Neighbors reported the residents were able to get out of the structure safely.

One witness said she saw emergency crews later bring out a cat from the building.

"We were out walking and saw the [fire] trucks coming down the street," one nearby resident said."I spoke to some friends who live across, and they said the people who were in the apartment got out."

No injuries have been reported.

Responding emergency crews included the Summerville and North Charleston fire departments.

The Red Cross says two units were destroyed and two other were heavily damaged.

The Summerville Fire Department is investigating the cause.
