Beaufort teen sentenced to 20 years for murder of another teen

BEAFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - An 18-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday to 20 years in prison for a 2016 shooting death of another teenager.

Geoni Najee Clark pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the death of 18-year-old William Kareen Major.

On Jan. 7, 2015, Clark met Major with the intentions of stealing a handgun, according to police.

During the robbery, Clark shot the victim several times.

The victim was later found in a church parking lot on Keans Neck Road.

Clark remains at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

In September of 2013, Clark was charged as an adult with armed robbery and first-degree assault and battery by a mob.

He was accused of beating a 57-year-old man and stealing his EBT card.

Those charges were later downgraded to third-degree assault and battery and strong-arm robbery, and were handled through family court, according to court records.
