ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say an Orangeburg man has been charged after a violent altercation sent another man to the hospital by slashing him with a broken bottle.
Anthony Glover was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with attempted murder after an altercation that took place nearly two weeks ago.
"This arrest was made after an individual was severely injured when he suffered multiple lacerations and cuts inflicted upon him by his assailant, Mr. Glover," Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
Orangeburg County Magistrate Sam Daily set bond at $15,000 cash or surety.
Orangeburg County deputies were sent to The Regional Medical Center on June 3 where in an ICU unit a 26 year old Orangeburg man was being treated for multiple injuries.
He said his injuries occurred when a man used a broken bottle to attack him.
The man originally said he did not wish to pursue charges against a subject that he said he couldn't identify. The man added he was involved in an altercation with a subject with whom he had been drinking that day.
Witnesses told investigators they were at a State Court residence when they heard the victim state an expletive before seeing him bleeding heavily. They then drove him to the hospital.
On Tuesday, the victim contacted OCSO to state he had changed his mind about prosecuting his assailant. He admitted he was "not in a stable mindset" to make a decision that day, per the report.
The case was immediately re-opened and Glover was taken into custody on a charge accusing him of not only stabbing the victim with a broken bottle, but slashing him multiple times about the body.
