SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A woman said she's okay after a tree branch pierced her car's windshield as she was driving in Summerville on Friday.
Meredith Mutispaugh said she was driving at 3:45 p.m. to pick up her cousins to watch a movie when she ran into some heavy wind.
"The wind was awful. I thought it was a possible tornado honestly," Mutispaugh said. "I even thought to myself as I was driving,'Man, this wind is crazy.'"
Once Mutispaugh made a turn onto Lincolnville Road, she saw a lot of debris on the road and got nervous.
"Not one minute after turning, the branch hit," Mutispaugh said."Very loud crack and glass fell on me and all the way to the back seat."
Pictures show the branch piercing the windshield.
"I was hysterical after it happened," she said."Luckily there was a close driveway with a carport. So I pulled under it because I knew the rain was coming. The house where my car was parked is vacant so we waited until the rain stopped to go back and get my car."
Mutispaugh said her mother came and got her following the incident.
"Terrifying experience and I am very lucky to say the least!"
