CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Board of Architectural Review has approved a settlement agreement regarding the Sgt. Jasper site in downtown Charleston
The high rise on Colonial Lake in downtown Charleston has been empty for nearly two years.
On Tuesday night, the city and the Beach Company, which owns the building, came to an agreement for the site.
The Beach Company says the new building will be more attractive, and also plan to make a waterfront park at St. Mary's field.
There are still a few more steps to go before plans are finalized.
CEO John Darby says it could take a year before the building can even be demolished.
