NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are searching for suspects following a shooting that injured one person in North Charleston Friday evening.
The shooting took place in front of a home on Ranger Drive.
According to police, one male victim in his late teens was apparently struck by gunfire and has been transported to MUSC for treatment.
An NCPD report states preliminary information indicates the suspects left the scene in a black pick up truck.
"The victim was conscious and alert at the time of transport for medical attention," NCPD officials said.
Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area.
Authorities had blocked off a portion of the road as detectives worked the scene.
Clay Hampton says police initially arrived at a local corner store before they arrived to the actual scene of the incident.
"I mean a lot of police came by," Hampton said."They asked me if I heard a gunshot. I was there at least 4 or 5 minutes but I didn't hear a gunshot."
He says police were looking for suspects and soon after they changed locations.
"All of a sudden the police came up and they found out they were at the wrong location, so they went down Ranger Drive," Hampton said.
According to dispatch officials, the incident was originally reported in the area of the 2000 block of Louise Drive which is a street over from Ranger Drive.
Dispatch officials say the incident happened just before 6:30 p.m.
