JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is investigating after a teenager was shot in the shoulder on Johns Island Friday night.
The shooting happened at 9:30 p.m. on Yost Lane in the Sea Island Place neighborhood.
According to CPD officials, a 16-year-old was shot in the left shoulder and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the incident started when three juvenile males were walking to a friend's house on Yost Lane when a car slowly passed them.
A report states that after the car passed them, someone in the car fired two shots at the juveniles, striking one of them in the left shoulder area.
"Detectives are currently gathering information about the incident," CPD officials said.
Police have blocked a portion of the road as officers work the scene.
In addition to police, the St. John's Fire Department and EMS crews were spotted at the scene.
