Police arrest suspect in West Ashley armed robbery

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested a suspect in a Sunday morning armed robbery of a West Ashley bar.

Keenan Raychard Davis, 36, is charged with armed robbery, assault and battery first degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis.

Police say the suspect entered Hunley's Tavern at 1750 Savannah Highway at approximately 12:50 a.m. Sunday, walked to the side of the bar and waved at the bartender to get her attention. They say he then walked behind the bar, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the bartender, then grabbed her by the throat and demanded money from the cash register.

Francis said the suspect left the business with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.

Davis was being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
