CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies are on their way to Dallas where they will attend funeral services for the five police officers slain there Thursday night.
Five members of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office's Honor Guard Unit will attend "to demonstrate support for our brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community," Maj. Eric Watson said.
The deputies will return by the end of the week, he said.
The first of the funerals is scheduled for Wednesday morning, according to the Dallas Morning News.
On Monday night, more than 1,000 people gathered in downtown Dallas to attend a candlelight vigil for the five police officers killed during a protest march.
