NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Crews are working to repair a leak to a large water main in North Charleston, the Charleston Water System says.
The utility warns customers may experience discolored water or low pressure as a result.
Discoloration is being reported primarily in the North Charleston area, while pressure issues are being reported in West Ashley east of Highway 7, in James Island, in the Neck area of downtown and south of Montague Avenue in North Charleston, authorities say.
Once the leak is repaired, customers should run their water for a few minutes to clear up any discoloration, Charleston Water System spokesperson Matt Brady said.
Officials do not expect a boil water advisory to be issued, he said, because crews believe they can make the repairs without the pressure dropping below a threshold that would prompt such an advisory.
