Colleton County Wreck severely injures two

SMOAKS, SC (WCSC) - According to Colleton County Fire and Rescue, two adults were severely injured and three children were taken to a hospital after a high speed accident in Smoaks.

According to the report around 7:00 p.m. Friday night the driver of the car lost control on the dirt road and flipped over into a ditch.

The Car hit a large pine tree roof first causing the top of the car to be pushed almost to the floor trapping both people in the front seat.

The three children in the back were able to crawl out of the damage car with minor injuries.

The two adults who were in the front seat had their legs pinned under the dashboard, with their bodies pushed into the back seat.

Crews treated the children for minor injuries, and it took more than an hour to free the two adults from the front seat.

Both were airlifted by helicopter to the trauma center at MUSC. The children were taken to the Colleton Medical Center where they were later released.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
