ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have charged an Orangeburg man with armed robbery and carjacking after they say he robbed a man at gunpoint last week.
Tykeem Johnson, 20, was charged with armed robbery, carjacking and a weapons charge after his arrest.
Johnson was denied bond during a hearing on Friday.
According to investigators, a man called Orangeburg County Sheriff's investigators on July 9 after fleeing from his assailant.
The man then told them he was forced to drive to a remote location on Muller Street where his car and financial cards were taken by a man with a handgun.
After taking those from the victim, the subject told the man to leave before he shot him.
Investigators put out a BOLO on the man's Mercury vehicle, which was discovered two days later about five miles away on Cannon Bridge Road south of Orangeburg.
"Fortunately, this man wasn't harmed in this incident in which he was threatened, this could have easily been a different and more tragic event." Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
This is an ongoing investigation.
