CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A lawsuit filed by former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager is expected to be heard Monday.
Slager is out on bond while awaiting trial for the shooting death of Walter Scott at a traffic stop.
He is suing the Southern States Police Benevolent Association, saying he paid dues to the group for an insurance contract promising him legal aid if he was involved in a shooting.
Slager says he hasn't received any of that aid.
The group argues Slager was acting outside of his duties as a police officer when he shot and killed Scott.
