A 95-year-old woman is still recovering in the hospital after a thief dragged her to the ground and took off with her purse.

The suspect is still on the loose despite surveillance video catching the act on camera just outside Oak Court Mall.

“No one deserves this,” neighbor Lee Sharp said. “Sad for her, and we will certainly be checking on her to make sure she's OK and we will be here for her as neighbors.”

The woman was robbed and dragged seven feet during the robbery.

“It’s disrespectful,” Sharp said. “I know she's a very independent woman, still living at home at 95.”

The victim was walking inside Oak Court Mall on Monday when the suspect ran up behind her. Police said the victim left a blood trail in the parking lot after she bumped her head.

The suspect stole the victim’s cell phone, several credit cards, and keys to her car and home—all of which were in her purse before the suspect jumped into a Chevrolet and drove off.

Police identified the suspect as 25 to 30 years old, 6’1” and was last seen wearing blue skinny jeans, a tan shirt, and a long pony tail. They believe the person responsible is likely a man, possible wearing a wig.

Hopefully they catch the perpetrator and they get their due diligence,” Sharp said.

Oak Court Mall said safety is their top priority and they are working with police to get the person responsible arrested.

Police said the victim will be OK.
