CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The best friend of a New York teenager who disappeared from Myrtle Beach says she believes someone in South Carolina knows about her friend's disappearance.
On Friday, TWC News Rochester spoke to Tarah Friedman about the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel who disappeared from Myrtle Beach while on Spring Break in 2009.
"Someone down there does know something," Friedman told TWC News."I believe someone in the community, just seeing her again, remembering who she was. They will want to come forward, they will remember something."
Earlier this month, an attorney for the Drexel family said a suspect or suspects have been named in the case, but declined to release any details.
Authorities say Drexel supposedly was heading back to the motel where she was staying, but never made it there.
Myrtle Beach Police are looking into the possibility Drexel was the victim of human trafficking.
The FBI announced last month Drexel was abducted and likely held against her will in Georgetown, McCllenville, and North Charleston.
The reward for information leading to an arrest in the case is $25,000.
