CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Two MUSC College of Dental Medicine employees are accused of stealing from the school.

Director of Finance Michael Latrace and employee Margaret O'Brien are accused of diverting payroll money and using it to buy electronics for themselves.

Both are facing charges of forgery and breach of trust.

According to an affidavit, between April 2014 and April 2016, O'Brien submitted false payroll documentation claiming dual employment for job related tasks outside the scope of her normal employement.

Court records state Latrace knowingly approved the false payroll documentation.

In April of this year, authorities say O'Brien provided a written statement admitting to submitting false payroll documents to MUSC.

The affidavit states O'Brien received $14,957 in dual employment pay, and that Lance instructed employees to submit the false payroll documentation in lieu of giving them raises.
