CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Hootie and the Blowfish will once again help Lowcountry students get ready for a new school year with the supplies they need.

The South Carolina-based band is hosting its 10th annual Homegrown Roundup to benefit underprivileged children in Charleston County. The "Back 2 School Basics" will include services such as haircuts, dental exams and eye exams. Students will also be able to get backpacks, shoes, uniforms and other school supplies.

The Homegrown Roundup takes place Saturday, August 6 at Burke High School Auditorium in Charleston. The event is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

About 1,600 students will be helped this year from the following schools: Angel Oak Elementary, Burns Elementary, Chicora Elementary, E.B. Ellington Elementary, James Simons Elementary, Lambs Elementary, Mary Ford Elementary, Midland Park Elementary, Mt. Zion Elementary, Pepperhill Elementary, Sanders Clyde Elementary and Springfield Elementary.

Hootie and the Blowfish will also play two sold-out shows at the Volvo Car Stadium on Daniel Island on August 5 and 6.
