CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The road to Rio is becoming even brighter for the family of Olympian and Charleston native Raven Saunders.
There were a couple fundraisers held on Wednesday to help Saunders' sister and mother make it to the Olympics to cheer the track star on.
The Krispy Kreme where her mother works joined in on the effort, and the doting mom was ever so grateful.
"We want to give her some family backing to bring home that gold medal," said Clarissa Saunders, Raven's mother. "Looks like I'm calm now, but inside I'm popping all over!"
But the efforts didn't stop there.
In West Ashley, the community rallied behind her in downtown Charleston.
Mayor John Tecklenburg along with everyone else is rooting for Saunders to take home the gold.
Burke high alumni and other neighbors came out to the International Long shormen Hall with another fundraiser.
