CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Mount Pleasant Police Department is planning to hold a community event to celebrate America's National Night Out Against Crime.
On Tuesday, Aug. 2, over 37 million people across the country will take part in the initiative to raise awareness about police programs in their communities.
"The event will be in the [Mount Pleasant] Target parking lot from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.," Inspector Chip Googe with the Mount Pleasant Police Department said. "We encourage everyone to stop by and meet some of the officers that patrol their community."
Mount Pleasant K9 officers, bike team members, SWAT and patrol units are expected to attend the event.
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department will also be in attendance with the smoke house, which helps them teach lifesaving skills during a fire.
Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch will have a booth set up to explain Smart911 to attendees.
For more information about the event, contact Inspector Chop Googe at (843) 884-4176.
