CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police say they arrested two juveniles Saturday while the boys were burglarizing a home on Wentworth Street.

Further investigation showed the boys also burglarized a Beaufain Street home on Friday, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis.

Francis said there is also surveillance video from July 20 showing the pair riding a stolen three-wheeler and abandoning it on Amherst Street.

Both juveniles face charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, petit larceny and larceny of a motor vehicle, Francis said.

Officers responded to a home on the 100 block of Wentworth Street on July 22 at approximately 4 a.m. in reference to a burglary in progress, he said.

Police say Officer Andrew Jagger arrived on the scene, approached the front door and saw the door being opened. He announced his presence and heard someone run toward the back of the house, Francis said. Jagger ran to the back of the house and yelled to the other officers that someone was exiting through the back door.

The officer saw a boy running from the house and was able to detain him, and police also detained a second suspect, Francis said.

Their identities have not been released because of their age.

The boys were being held in juvenile detention, Francis said.

The investigation continues.
