CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Several police agencies across the Lowcountry are gearing up with the community to host an event against crime.
On Tuesday, Aug. 2, over 37 million people across the country will take part in the initiative to raise awareness about police programs in their communities.
National Night Out is an opportunity for creating strong partnerships and a safer community.
The Isle of Palms Police Department, the Mount Pleasant Police Department, and the Charleston County Police Department are making it their duty to celebrate National Night Out.
Here's the locations where you can be a part of the celebration:
- Isle of Palms: The Isle of Palms Recreation Center, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
- Mount Pleasant: Target parking lot, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
- James Island: Camp Center parking lot outside Town Hall, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The event is completely free, and many treats will be offered throughout the occasion. There will be food, jump castles, games, and much more.
K9 officers, bike team members, SWAT and patrol units are expected to attend the event. The corresponding fire department is expected to attend their event as well with the smoke house. The smoke house helps to teach lifesaving skills during a fire.
Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch will have a booth set up to explain Smart911 to attendees.
