CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The National Action Network on Monday renewed its call for the firing of the Charleston County School District's director of food services.
NAN was joined by current and former food service workers in a march and rally outside the food services building in North Charleston Monday morning.
The workers say they are being mistreated and underpaid and say they hold the food services director responsible.
"They do not want to go back in this type of work environment in Charleston County Schools, so we'll be out here even when school starts," National Action Network state director Elder James Johnson said.
In response, the school district told us an internal and external investigation into the allegations is ongoing and should be completed next month.
CCSD says the workers and NAN have been invited to participate.
