Prosecutors: Defense objects to state receiving federal grand jury transcripts in Slager case

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Prosecutors say defense attorneys for Michael Slager are objecting to the state receiving federal grand jury transcripts in the government's prosecution of the former North Charleston police officer accused accused in the shooting death of a motorist.

According to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office, the state has made requests by the US Attorney's Office to be provided with investigative documents which include federal grand jury transcripts.

According to the prosecutors' motion, Slager's defense has indicated to the Attorney's Office that they object to the state receiving the transcripts "which they imply may have exculpatory or mitigating information and which they demand that the State produce."
