Berkeley Co. investigators arrest 5th suspect in fatal home invasion

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office have arrested a fifth suspect in connection to a fatal home invasion in Huger on July 21.

As a result of the investigation, detectives have charged 18-year-old Darius Hamilton of St. Stephens with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping,  attempted murder, murder, possession of a weapon in the commission of a crime and first-degree burglary.

The bond hearing will be this evening at 6:30 p.m.

Sheriff Lewis stated, "We are extremely pleased to have the fifth suspect in custody in this case. The help from the community has been significant and it is greatly appreciated. I am proud of the hard work our detectives have put forward in this case. The assistance from both SLED, the Department of Natural Resources and the United States Marshal's Service has been invaluable."

Deputies have already arrested Sherrod Palmer, Kenneth Campbell Jr., Jacob Mouzon and Drake Campbell.

Authorities say 27-year-old Kadeem Johnson was shot execution style. His girlfriend was also shot, and survived.
