Cashier thrown 10-feet in the air after van crashes into store

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Emergency officials say two people were transported to the hospital after a minivan crashed into a convenience store in Colleton County on Tuesday.

Officials with the Colleton County Fire and Rescue Department say the crash happened at the Grand Central Store on 11020 Cottageville Hwy.

According to officials, the minivan drove through the front door of the convenience store causing heavy damage and striking the cashier.

"The cashier was thrown approximately 10 feet by the impact, which caused unconsciousness," CCFR officials said.

Firefighter-paramedics treated the cashier and minivan driver at the scene.

The cashier was transported to Trident Medical in Summerville, while the driver of the van was taken to Colleton County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Cottageville police is investigating the accident.
