CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators with the Charleston Police Department are searching for a man who stole an iPhone in downtown Charleston.

The theft happened at the 2 Brothers convenience store on 131 Wentworth Street.

Last Wednesday, officers spoke with the victim who said at 6:19 p.m. a man stole his black and silver 6s Apple iPhone which had a black Otterbox protective case.

The victim said he left his phone on a shelf near the entrance to the store.

Authorities say security footage shows the suspect take the victim's cell phone and place it in his pocket before leaving the store.

Police describe the suspect as between 20 and 25 years old, medium length brown hair, clean shaven, and wearing a plain white Ralph Lauren baseball cap, white Ralph Lauren button down shirt with no undershirt, khaki shorts, white sneakers, a gold bracelet and had a long gold chain around his neck.

CPD officials also released pictures of individuals who were with the suspect.

"The investigator needs the public's help in identifying the suspect and the three people who were with him when the incident occurred," CPD officials said.

Anyone with information can call Consolidated Dispatch at 843 743 7200 and ask for the on-duty CPD detective.
