ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - The Isle of Palms Water and Sewer Commission says its customers no longer need to boil water before using it.
A boil water advisory was put in place late Friday after crews repaired a water line broken by a contractor earlier in the day.
There was no confirmed contamination of the system, but because of the loss of water pressure, the potential for contamination existed, according to a release issued late Thursday night by the utility.
A contractor broke the water line at 48 Morgan Place Drive in Wild Dunes at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the release states.
In order to make the repair, water was turned off to approximately 200 residents on and around Waterway Island Drive, Morgan Place Drive, Morgan Creek Drive, Fairway Village Lane, and The Moorings, the release states.
The boil water advisory was a precautionary measure put in place because it takes at least 16 hours to get test results for any possible bacteria.
