BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - If you live in Berkeley County, you may soon be getting a check in the mail.
Thousands of home and business owners will share $6.5 million dollars in refunds.
That money comes from a class action lawsuit over transportation impact fees that were paid to the county but not spent on infrastructure improvements.
Anyone who is part of the lawsuit should already have been notified of the settlement.
The average homeowner can expect to receive just under $700, but some commercial property owners could receive tens of thousands of dollars, and in some cases, hundreds of thousands.
The Berkeley County School District will receive a refund of more than $137,000 for impact fees paid in connection with school construction.
