NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities have released dash cam video of an accident where a North Charleston police officer was struck on I-26 this past weekend.

Police say you can see the suspect crash into the back of a patrol car then slam into a stopped van.

It appears the officer tries to get out of the way, however police say Patrolman First Class Andrew Turner suffered injuries early Saturday morning.

Turner was transported to MUSC for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries

According to investigators, Turner had initiated a traffic stop on the westbound shoulder of I-26 when the vehicle Burnett was driving struck the back of Turner's patrol car, which then struck him.

Wendy Burnett, 24, is charged with felony DUI.

Burnett is a teacher at North Charleston High School and is on paid leave after the accident.

She has been released on a $25,000 bond.
