BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials say the Berkeley County high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student is out on a bond of $20,000.
Donald Blair, Sr., a mechatronics teacher at Goose Creek High School, is charged with criminal sexual conduct and sexual battery, according to Berkeley County Chief Deputy Mike Cochran.
An investigation was started after the victim told deputies she had a consensual sexual relationship with Blair when she was 15 and 16 years old, an affidavit states.
Investigators believe the now 51-year-old engaged in a sexual relationship with the student for about five months, starting in Oct. 2014.
According to an affidavit, Blair escorted the victim to his office and engaged in sexual activity "on multiple occasions."
Numerous students said they saw Blair and the victim go into his office, close the door and emerge 20 to 30 minutes later two or three times a week.
Blair is currently on administrative leave, according to Berkeley County School District spokesperson Katie Orvin.
A judge Monday ordered him not to have contact with the victim or children under 16.
Blair must also stay away from schools, daycare, malls, libraries and playgrounds.
