MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a man accused of stabbing two people at a party in Mount Pleasant.
Matthew Barnes surrendered to officers on Thursday and was charged with attempted murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Barnes' charges stem from an incident on Aug. 20 at 3:40 a.m. when officers responded to a home on Perseverance Street in reference to a stabbing.
According to police, Barnes was attending a house party when an altercation broke out with another guest.
"During the altercation, Matthew Barnes produced a knife and stabbed the first victim in the neck and abdomen," police said."A second victim was cut on the arm and shoulder."
Police say both victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and have since been released.
"We want to thank the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force for their assistance in this case!" Mt. Pleasant police said.
