COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Emergency officials say a 21-year-old man was transported to the hospital after his SUV crashed into several trees in Colleton County.

Officials with the Colleton County Fire and Rescue Department say the crash happened on the 5400 block of Sidneys Road Thursday night.

According to CCFR officials, the man suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

"The north bound Chevrolet Trailblazer left the roadway in a curve at a high rate of speed," CCFR officials said.

A report states the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, struck a ditch, overturned and struck several trees.

"A large tree impacted at the driver’s side “A” post, crushing the dash onto the patients legs, trapping him upside down in the car," authorities said."Firefighter-Paramedics found the male conscious, but with multiple complaints. Crews began treating him inside the vehicle, while other Firefighters began the process of extricating him from the wreckage."

The man was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
