Folly Beach preparing for storm's landfall


City leaders are asking people in the Lowcountry to get prepared for Friday’s storm.

People in Folly Beach were taking the advice Wednesday evening and getting prepared.
“I came here to Harris Teeter to stock up so I don’t have to leave the house,” Marilyn Wittschen said.
She is also preparing for the worst by getting her hurricane kit ready.
I’m ready. I got battery operated television, radios and even fans,” Wittschen said.
The City of Folly sent out an alert advising people to get their kits ready and form an emergency family plan before the storm arrive on Friday.
Businesses are also getting ready for potential floods.
“Flooding usually comes up to about our first step coming into the restaurant just right below the door, so we’ll have sandbags right outside the door to make sure no water gets in whatsoever,” Corey Meloy, Business manager at Rita’s said.
In an email sent out by City of Folly Beach it said pack your hurricane kit and have it ready. Your kit should include a portable radio, flashlight, extra batteries, first aid kit, water for several says, medications, garbage bags, pet food, matches and cash.
The email also said the city is monitoring the storm and has staff ready in case the weather situation changes.
