Lowcountry residents stocking up as Hermine approaches

ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WCSC) - As Hermine makes its way to the Lowcountry, groceries stores were crowded Thursday night.

People said they were getting ready to hunker down and wait the storm out.

"Loading up on my groceries before the storm hits tomorrow so we can hunker down in our condo and watch our waves and the wind," Linda Thompson said.

The Harris Teeter on Isle Of Palms had a full lot for most of the night as people got their last minute groceries before the storm is expected to hit Friday.

"Got some food so that I'll be okay no matter what it brings," Kerry Hood said.

Hood said she didn't know about the storm until friends and family from out of town told her to get prepared.

"It was a little bit of surprise and snuck up on me a little bit," Hood said.

That's why she came out Thursday to make sure she would have everything she needed before it got here.

And most shoppers had the same attitude, that they would be staying in tomorrow and waiting out the storm.
