LITTLE TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WCSC) - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two kayakers Tuesday at Little Tybee Island after their family reported them being overdue.
The kayakers, a 42 and 19-year-old father and son, did not return at sunset, family members said.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders were notified at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday of kayakers who did not return as expected after they set out for Little Tybee Island.
A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew located and hoisted the kayakers at 1:35 a.m.
Both men were transported to Air Station Savannah where they were reported to be in good condition.
Coast Guard Station Tybee and Georgia Marine Patrol boats were also involved in the search.
